Thoughts on Music

I really have no musical background, music was not a significant part of my life in my childhood and teenage years..
There were songs I liked, yes, but aside from that, not much.
I did play the recorder when I was 10. Not sure why, I guess it was my parents suggestion
Of course the recorder is an instrument often given to children, I suppose because its cheap and relatively easy to play
While I didnt like taking lessons, I dont hate recorders. I dont like them either. Well, I took recorder lessons and quit after a few months or so

I only started making music when I was about 21 years old. At that time I was into game development and I wanted to make my own songs for a game
The first program I used to make music was VGM music maker, a tracker for sega master system and genesis soundchips. I grew up with the master system which is why I chose it
Nobody really likes master system music unless they grew up with it. The soundchip is vastly inferior to the NES's, and the console was of course less popular.

Anyways...thats how I started making music...

I started to compose a lot of songs with music box instruments - or with celestas, or something similar. I'm not sure why, maybe because they are easy to compose with.
It is a single instrument to worry about, and notes all have the same length.
I prefer the sound of them to the piano. Pianos dont sound as "clear" as a music box or celesta
